From the start of the route to the end we will not only enjoy the Mediterranean, its beaches, its mild climate, healthy and delicious reputation. In this route next to the sea for the most part, we will visit two natural parks, Delta Del Ebro and Albufera and cross a third, Sierra de Irta. Both the Ebro Delta and the Albufera, wetlands with an important biological role, offer us the possibility of activities such as ornitholigía. Besides the observation of the birds we will be captivated with its landscapes, its vegetation and its fauna.
However we still have to discover the secrets that the Mediterranean hides. Tortosa, a city of the Renaissance with its historical and artistic heritage, has a special charm, and offers many festivals and events throughout the year. Amposta has medieval vestiges, modernist buildings and its tower of Carrova of S. XIV besides the great wealth of Delta del Ebro.
Without separating us from the sea, from its breeze and warmth we arrive at Peniscola crossing the Sierra de Irta, its cliffs and its tower, Badum Tower. Watchtower located on a cliff of 97m. Once in Peñíscola, we can visit the Papa Luna Castle, heritage legacy. It was built by the Templars on the old Arab citadel. Sober and sober it is situated in the highest area of the rock that dominates the city reaching great height above sea level providing the visitor with the opportunity to know a history of wars, legends and Berber pirates. Today the center of cultural and tourist attraction is home to numerous music and theater festivals. In addition guided tours are staged.
After this immersion in history we leave Peñíscola towards Castellón, we will pass the localities of Oropesa and Benicassim, using a greenway. All the localities that we cross have numerous bars and restaurants. In summer Benicassim hosts two international festivals of great relevance in the world of music, the FIB and ROTOTOM as well as other smaller but not less important as the Blues Festival of Benicassim. Valencia has a rich historical and cultural, artistic and heritage in which we must immerse.
